The year-round sun and warmth of Florida makes it an ideal destination any time of year. Pack your bags and gather your friends and family for a fun and exciting Thanksgiving vacation full of fun, sun, Thanksgiving treats, as well as some fun indoor activities to escape the heat, or the possible rainy day. Set your sights on the Orlando area and its many exciting entertainment offerings and delicious food and you’ll build a Thanksgiving in Orlando vacation to keep you happy and busy throughout your stay.
When it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, Orlando knows how to celebrate. Nearly every restaurant (or so it seems) is hosting some sort of special meal on Thanksgiving Day. From breakfast to dinner and everything in between, restaurants across Orlando are celebrating with food and fun. Ask about take out or delivery if you want to avoid crowds.
The theme parks that call Orlando home seem to put on a show for every holiday and season. Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom goes all-out for Christmas starting in early November, and each of the Disney parks puts their own spin on the celebration, including traditions from around the world, and putting holiday cheer in everywhere. Some Disney park restaurants offer traditional Thanksgiving in Orlando fare. Other parks like Universal Studios have yet to complete Thanksgiving and other holiday plans, but announcements will be coming soon.
Madame Tussauds Orlando
Located on International Drive along with many other must-see attractions, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum features life size and life-like wax models of many top actors, sports stars, pop icons, political and historical figures, and more. Each category or group of stars and celebrities has its own room, and the figures are organized and placed in a way that begs for fun and silly photos with you and your friends posed in the shot, too. Want to see yourself carved in wax? It will take up to four months for the professional team of artists and sculptors to perfect your image using over 200 different body measurements that capture everything that’s unique about you.
This adults-only event takes place Thanksgiving Eve – November 24 – and is full of music, food, and of course, drinks. Orlando House Party is throwing a Thanksgiving event like no other in town. Dance to the beat of hip-hop, R&B, and “tropical” tunes provided by local artists. There will also be local arts and crafts provided by @VenomNDenim. The event is outdoors, and the environment is “rocky” – so it’s best to leave the high heels at home. Advance tickets are recommended, as you’ll get into the fun much faster than buying at the door and be assured a spot. The event takes place 6:00 p.m.-midnight. Patrons must be 21+ for this event.
The weather is likely part of the reason you chose Orlando for Thanksgiving. Getting outside and enjoying the outdoors is a great way to spend some time with those you love outside of the four walls of your accommodations. Resorts, hotels, and vacation rentals alike all have quick access to outdoor spaces like pools, hot tubs, playgrounds, and more. Grab some water and your sun gear and hit the trails for a hike or rent a bike and explore the area or ride the trails. The best part: you’ll have more time to spend outdoors since the scorching sun will be taking a little fall break itself.
Chocolate Kingdom Factory Tour
